If you own a Woodpecker UDS-E scaler, you already know it's a reliable workhorse. But when it's time to replace tips, the question of compatibility comes up fast—and getting it wrong means poor vibration, loose connections, or a tip that simply won't fit.

Here's what you need to know about finding the right tips for your UDS-E.

The UDS-E Uses EMS Thread

Woodpecker produces scalers under two distinct lines, and they do not share the same thread standard.

Woodpecker UDS series (UDS-K, UDS-P, UDS-E, and others) accept EMS-thread tips. This means the UDS-E is compatible with the same thread standard used by EMS Piezon handpieces.

Woodpecker DTE series uses a completely different thread specification (DTE/NSK/Satelec type) and is not interchangeable with EMS-thread tips.

In short: if your scaler is a UDS-E, you need EMS-thread tips.

Why Thread Standard Matters

A tip that "almost fits" is worse than one that doesn't fit at all. Near-matching threads can screw on partially but fail to transmit vibration efficiently—resulting in weak scaling power, heat buildup, or a tip that loosens mid-procedure.
